Season 4: Apple

ISSUE 4: APPLE is the fourth edition from Produce Parties. In this issue of Produce Parties, our contributors confronted what it means to be as “American as Apple Pie.” We went back to Adam and Eve and looked our own desires squarely in the face. We sunk our teeth into our own personal Forbidden Fruits, asking ourselves how something we know to be poisonous can taste so sweet. We celebrated comfort recipes for apple sauce and took a sledgehammer to traditional apple pie to create a newer, truer recipe. And we looked back at what happens when things start to spoil. What are we left with when relationships oxidize and become damaged? How do we know the party is dying down, and how do we find the courage to leave? 

We hope this issue inspires you to reconsider the traditions and beliefs you’ve held close and to explore what it means to make them your own. We hope you love sinking your teeth into these stories and recipes and that you feel more free to embrace your own desires. And as always, we hope you feel excited to share it all with others.
